The seventh anniversary of Old Louisville Brewery is upon us, marking a significant milestone in the brewery's journey of crafting neighborhood favorites. In commemoration of this anniversary, let's revisit the top seven most popular beers from Old Louisville Brewery from over the years.

  1. Wade's RyePA (6.9%): This reliable RyePA is a versatile offering that adapts to every season. Ideal for a summer day at the theater or as a companion during a quiet winter evening, Wade's RyePA consistently delivers satisfaction.
  2. Belgravia Blonde w/ Mango (5.5%): This unique brew adds a twist of sweet mango to the classic blonde ale, making it a refreshing delight for warm summer days. Its balance of lightness and fruity sweetness has cemented its status as a standout choice.
  3. Imperial Pumpkin Milk Stout (8%): Embodying the essence of fall, this seasonal stout combines the characteristic spices of pumpkin with the balancing bitterness of chinook hops. It's an expertly crafted beverage that pairs well with the changing leaves of autumn.
  4. Kentucky Common (6%): This beer pays homage to Louisville's brewing history, recreating a popular style from the early 20th century. The beer's barley, rye, and corn mash is kettle-soured to add a refreshing tang, making the Kentucky Common an intriguing blend of past and present.
  5. PB&J Ale (5.8%): An inventive brew that encapsulates the familiar flavors of a classic PB&J sandwich. With real peanut butter and Concord grape juice concentrate, this ale provides an unconventional yet enjoyable drinking experience.
  6. Christmas Cookies (7%): This beer captures the holiday spirit, mixing flavors of ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla, and sorghum molasses with crystal malts and rye. It's a complex, flavorful offering that brightens the winter months.
  7. First Street Series w/ Citra (5.9%): A testament to the elegance of simplicity, the First Street Series is a single malt, single hop pale ale showcasing Citra hops. This brew demonstrates the depth and complexity achievable within a seemingly straightforward approach.

Congratulations to Old Louisville Brewery on seven years!

New Oktoberfest Celebration Coming to Downtown Louisville
“Steins on Main” to Benefit the Coalition for the Homeless
July 12, 2023 (Louisville, KY) - Louisville Downtown Partnership, Louisville Ale Trail, and Against the Grain Brewery are excited to announce an all-new Oktoberfest celebration, "Steins on Main," hitting Downtown Louisville on Saturday, September 30, from 2 pm to 7 pm at RePurposed (615 W. Main Street). The outdoor celebration will include German-inspired cuisine, games and contests, music, and local breweries.

This new event will not only bring the traditional Bavarian festival to the heart of Louisville but will also aid a vital cause in the Louisville community - supporting the Coalition for the Homeless, a local nonprofit with a mission to prevent and end homelessness in Louisville.

“It’s a win-win to hold this event in such a unique space and to kick off Louisville’s new Oktoberfest event,” said Rebecca Fleischaker, Executive Director of Louisville Downtown Partnership. “We are always looking for unique ways for the community to come together and being able to help our homeless population makes this a more enriching event.”

Steins on Main will be free to the public and promises an afternoon filled with great cuisine, games, music, craft beer, and an abundance of festive cheer. Participating breweries include Against the Grain, Gallant Fox, Butchertown Brewing, Gravely, Monnik Beer Co., Hi-Wire, and the newly-opened Awry Brewing. These beers will provide a taste of both local craft mastery and the rich Oktoberfest tradition. Festivities kick off with a special happy hour from 2 pm to 3 pm, offering early attendees an exciting start to the day.

"Bringing Oktoberfest to the heart of Downtown Louisville is an honor for us at Against the Grain," said Sam Cruz, co-owner of Against the Grain Brewery. "We've always worked diligently to build community connections and share our good times through our beers, and ‘Steins on Main' will amplify that mission while also supporting an essential cause."

Steins on Main invites everyone in the community to join this Oktoberfest celebration, creating memories and supporting a critical cause while celebrating the city's rich German heritage.

More details surrounding additional vendors will be announced in the coming weeks. For more information, contact Michael Moeller at [email protected].

UPDATE: ALL SPOTS TAKEN! We'll see you at Monnik on August 5th for the beer release.

Save the date! After a two-year hiatus, Monnik Beer’s Dog Days of Summer event is poised to make a triumphant return on Saturday, August 5th, to the Schnitzelburg neighborhood.

This year, the Dog Days of Summer event will highlight a unique beer collaboration featuring a label designed by Louisville Ale Trail. The limited run label itself serves as part of the fundraising efforts of the event. We're issuing a call to action for all local dog lovers and encourage them to donate to the Kentucky Humane Society. In return, a “1x1” print of their beloved dogs will be immortalized on our beer label.

Featuring nearly twenty local dogs and a $100 donation for each entry, we proudly present what we believe is The World’s Most Expensive Beer Label.

This distinct beer and label combo will be available in limited quantities on August 5th, the day of the event. Monnik will donate a portion of sales that day directly to the Kentucky Humane Society as well.

Dog Days of Summer will span from 12-8pm. The Dog Days of Summer event promises a day full of fun for all dogs, large and small. We've planned everything from outdoor pools and sprinklers to dog-specific vendors and even a dog show. To cap it off, the Kentucky Humane Society will be on-site with adorable dogs ready for adoption and open for further donations.

Click here to donate and get your dog on the beer can.

PODCAST: Jeff Faith (Fehr's Beer)

This week the guys are joined by the one and only Jeff Faith. Jeff is a fixture in Louisville for his laid-back and “dudely” presence, his skills on the bass, his fixing up of airplanes and old boats, and for resurrecting the classic Fehr’s Beer.

In Louisville’s pre-prohibition era, Fehr’s was among the biggest breweries in the country, with distribution nationwide. Over the 20th century, the brand declined and disappeared until Jeff’s passion for reviving cool, vintage things led him to acquire the lapsed trademark and set him on a mission to bring Fehr’s back in as historically accurate a way as possible.

Today you can find Fehr’s XL on draft and in cans to-go at Akasha Brewing Company.

We also put Jeff to the test on his favorite movie “The Big Lebowski,” discussed his growing obsession with bees and boats, and bid a fond farewell to Anchor Christmas Ale.

Featured Beers:
  • Cool Cricket (Horse & Dragon Brewing Company)
  • Fehrs XL
  • Anchor Christmas Ale
